What Makes A Great Talker
What makes a professional wrestler? His athleticism? His charisma? His mic skills? All of these qualities makes a professional wrestler. But in this particular blog entry I want to discuss one of these qualities: Mic skills. What makes a great "talker"? That is exactly what I am going to tell you. A great talker makes you hate him or love him with a passion. A great talker tells you a story before his match has even begun. When you here Dusty Rhodes tell you that he's a son of a plumber and living the American Dream you beleive in him and beleive you to can live the American Dream. One of the greatest talkers of all time in my humble opinion is The Rock. His interveiws could go on for hours and the fans would chant; Rocky! Rocky! "The Great One" has given some of the most amazing interveiws in Professional Wrestling history. In fact he even made stars out of The Coach, and Lillian Garcia, who both used to be backstage interveiwers. You guys remember some of his catchphrases: It Does'nt matter what your name is! Know your role and shut your mouth! Just Bring It! And of course: If ya Smelllll What The Rock is Cookin! Ric Flair may be the best talker of all time. He told you he was better than you, and you knew it! He was one of the first wrestlers to wear flashy clothes and be flamboyant and is also one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Everybody wanted to be Flair. Fastforward to 2007 and look at some of the new Superstars who can talk. John Cena: I may get flooded with comments about how Cena sucks and all of that crap, but I do not know how, whether you like him or not, you could think John Cena can't talk! In fact that is one of the reasons he gets such a reaction from the fans. His promos contain raw [no pun intended] emotion and that is one of the qualities you need to be a good talker. Now I want to go on record and say being a good talker is not everything. You must have the total package: Mic skills, Athletitism, and Charisma. I want to note that there are some but not a lot of people who have all of these qualities. Some of todays Superstars who have "it" are: Edge, John Cena, HHH, Shawn Michales, Mr. Kennedy, Ric Flair [of course], The Undertaker [even though he does not talk to much he without a doubt has the total package], and a few more I can't think of at this moment. Bottom Line: To be a great talker you have to captivate yor audience, make them hate you, make them love you, and most importantly tell them a story. I'm Junk and you have just been Blogged!
